On September 25th Merridale is hosting the 4th Annual Cider Harvest Festival. This epic festival has been paused for the last few years due to COVID, but itās back this year and the lineup is better than ever!
The festival features land-based cideries who believe in true craft cider.
Craft is one of these words that gets thrown around a lot in the industry. At Merridale and the cideries in the Harvest Festival, craft is about the passion, quality and dedication that goes into creating quality cider and extraordinary flavours that celebrate the unique terroir of British Columbia.
Each cidery featured at the festival is a member of the B.C. Farm Crafted Cider Association (BCFCCA), which is dedicated to strict eligibility standards. All members must be independently 100% BC owned, make cider with at least 95% juice content, not from concentrate, make their cider in small batches, slow ferment their cider and make their cider on the same farm where the apples are grown.
The results? True craft cider that is produced by dedicated and innovative B.C. cider makers who are hugely passionate about what they are creating and are excited to share this with you at the Harvest Festival.
Jason Child, general manager of Merridale is the president of BCFCCA. As an industry pioneer, Merridale advocated for changing legislation in B.C.. This opened the way for other farm-based cideries and distilleries to enter the industry. The Cider Harvest Festival is a way to bring together many of the members of the BCFCCA and showcase all that BC Craft cider has to offer.
Taste them All. Taste the Difference.
The 4th Annual Cider Harvest Festival is an epic tasting experience and weāve thought of everything so you can truly enjoy the festival.
