Open House: Celebrating our Pier Rehabilitation Projects Completion

May 18 @ 10:00 am 4:00 pm

The Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre is having an OPEN HOUSE on Saturday May 18 to celebrate re-opening after major construction. That means Free Admission and events for young and old – all day long!

It is all part of the Centre’s “Back to the Water” initiative to celebrate and re-introduce the completion of this million-dollar renovation to a mainstay of the facility: the outstanding (pun intended!) and historic 99 year old pier that’s the backbone of this community hub in picturesque Cowichan Bay village.

What a perfect way to kick off the May Long Weekend! with family and friends. There will be activities for kids, adults and those caught in between as well as live entertainment. Volunteers and staff will be on hand throughout the day – rain or shine. And businesses throughout the village will be open to provide food and distractions for those with and without a maritime bent.

The Centre is a maritime museum operated by the not-for-profit Cowichan Wooden Boat Society. In addition to the exhibits and maritime book collection, the Centre hosts building courses for children and adults and an on-going, ad hoc maritime-related lecture series. It also operates an historic marine ‘ways’ for hauling boats for repair and/or bottom cleaning and maintains a small fleet of traditional watercraft.

Come one, come all . . . Back to the Water at the Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre. FREE on Saturday, May 18.
