Experience the stories imbued in every sip

Many are surprised to learn Cowichan is one of the largest wine regions in BC. The time, energy, and love our proprietors put into growing every grape is evident—finding deep satisfaction in observing new visitors take their very first taste of a Cowichan wine during intimate tours.

Cowichan viticulture

The Cowichan Valley is Vancouver Island’s only official winemaking region and one of the largest in British Columbia. When you dig beneath the vines to the unique terroir and rich history of our land it quickly makes sense. A mix of ancient volcanic activity, salt, and glaciers in the Cowichan region has led to some of the best soil for growing our chosen grape varieties. Located in Canada’s only maritime Mediterranean climatic zone, our region also seldom freezes—protecting plants from frost and extending the growing season despite the cooler climate.
